UGA Chamber Choir sings in beautiful cathedrals and churches during the 2009 Italy Performance Tour
The UGA Chamber Choir will be performing in both major cathedrals and off-the-beaten path gems. Here is an overview of the performance venues for the 2009 Incantato Italy Tour.

The UGA Italy Tour Poster
"Musica oltre i confini" is the theme for the 2009 UGA Chamber Choir Italy Performance Tour. Incantato Tour proudly presents the custom-designed poster for the highlight concert as part of the Ultrapadum Festival.Our graphic designer, Mrs. Marti Naughton drew her inspiration from the University of Georgia school colors red and black as well as the musical theme chosen by Dr. Mitos Andaya, the director of the UGA Chamber Choir.

About the UGA Chamber Choir
The University of Georgia Chamber Choir is a select touring ensemble of members from all UGA choirs including the Concert Choir, University Chorus,Women's Glee Club, Men's Glee Club, the African-American Choral Ensemble,Classic City Jazz, and Collegium Musicum. The ensemble performs literature of all style periods – from early, classical, and contemporary music to spirituals and jazz. The Chamber Choir is formed biennially and has toured internationally since 2005, when the group went to England and Scotland. There, they were featured at the Dornoch Choral Festival and worked with distinguished conductor Simon Carrington. The choir also performed in Christ Church and Keble Colleges in Oxford, in York Minster, at Paisley Abbey in Glasgow, and in Stirling.

The current Chamber Choir consists of 24 voices including music and non-music majors from various courses of study at the University. The singers look forward to touring Italy in 2009, where they will be featured at the Festival Ultrapadum in Pavia and perform in Alessandria, the Basilica of St. Mark in Venice, the Duomo in Florence, as well as the Basilica of St. Peter and the Sistine Chapel in Rome.

YPAS Tour Day 2 - Live commentaries from the Incantato Tour busses
Maestro Dr. S. Timothy Glasscock, Director of the YPAS Touring Concert Choir, was the first to answer his new Spanish cell phone - courtesy of Incantato. "The first day was fine and as smooth as it could be", he commented. Yes, the flights were exhausting, but food and service had been nice and best of all: "The kids were very well behaved." He reported no issues at all and was very pleased with the Incantato team in Europe: "We really enjoyed the nice tour, the hotel rooms were just fine, so everything is great." On Stefania's bus, Mrs. Landgrave had only positive things to say: "Everybody is good, they are having fun, but we are still a bit tired." She too was happy with the arrangements so far.
The group left Madrid after breakfast and is heading North to Segovia. Dr. Glasscock and the singers are looking forward to their first singing abroad opportunity later today. Prior to the recital at the Church of San Juan de los Cabelleros in Segovia, the choir will be rehearsing in the venue in the early afternoon. "An informal concert is the perfect first performance", the director said: "Less pressure on the kids, but a great opportunity to sing in a beautiful historical venue." And there may well be an audience beyond the entourage although we refrained from advertising the recital as per Dr. Glasscock's request. We will keep you all updated.

Welcome to the 2009 Incantato Concert Season
Tough economic times shouldn't stop fine choirs from touring abroad, but at Incantato Tours we understand that flexibility is even more important when traveling money is limited. So while we maintain the high standards our boutique tour company is built upon when it comes to concert management and marketing, as well as the overall touring experience, thinking out of the box and designing creative journeys enabled several wonderful choirs to say YES to going on an Incantato Performance 2009 and we are honored to work with an for them. Their prime venues include the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid, Spain, St. Mark's and St. Peter's Basilica in Italy, participation in renowned festivals like the Llangollen Eistedfodd and many many more wonderful essential artistic experiences. We will soon feature a complete performance schedule for all the fine choirs traveling with Incantato to Europe this year.

An original composition by a special guest on the YPAS Tour: Composer Richard Burchard wrote A Song of Eternal Love
Composer Richard Burchard is a dear friend of the Youth Performing Arts School Touring Concert Choir and Director Dr. S. Timothy Glasscock. "They've performed and/or premiered many of my choral works so I am having developed a great relationship with them", Burchard explains. For the 2009 Incantato Performance Tour to Spain and Portugal, he composed a new work: A Song of Eternal Love. "I wanted this work to be something special which is also why I chose to write the text myself. I think the words resonate with everyone allowing each singer and listener to experience them in their own way. The piece was translated into Spanish by my colleague and friend, David Domine."

The Touring Concert Choir from the Youth Performing Arts School in Louisville, KY is traveling to Spain and Portugal in the spring of 2009. "Eternal Love" is the concert theme of their Incantato Performance Tour. The singers directed by Dr. S. Timothy Glasscock are the featured guest choir for High Mass in Madrid, Santiago di Compostela and Lisbon. In addition, the YPAS choir is presenting two formal concerts in Oviedo and Lisbon. Dr. S. Timothy Glasscock is finishing his eighth year at The Youth Performing Arts School, where he functions as the Director of Vocal Studies and teaches Vocal Development, Repertory Choir, DuPont Manual Chorus, Concert Choir, and Chamber Choir. He also serves a Production Director to the musical productions. As Artistic Director of The Louisville Chorus, the Southeast United States’ longest-thriving choral arts agency, he is a well-known figure in artistic circles in The U.S. With a Bachelors and Masters degree in music from The University of Louisville and a Doctor of Musical Arts from The University of Kentucky, his experience is wide and varied. Dr. Glasscock is in demand nationally and internationally for conducting and guest solo performances. His biography can be found on the World Concert Artist Directory, and he is a member of the Conductor’s Guild, American Choral Director’s Association, Kentucky Music Educator’s National Conference, Chorus America, The College Music Society, National Pastoral Musicians, and various other professional organizations.
The Youth Performing Arts School Touring Concert Choir consists of vocal majors and other singers admitted by audition only. This ensemble covers a wide variety of music from all periods of musical history. Renaissance motets, baroque cantatas, classical masses, romantic and 20th century choral/orchestral masterworks—all these genres and more comprise the core repertoire of the touring ensemble at YPAS.
This choir has performed at the cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France, at St. James Episcopal (first musical position held by Leopold Stokowsy) in London, Rochester Cathedral, Cathedral of Saint Mark’s in Venice, Italy, Chiesa Santa Maria Maggiore, and Sancta Susanna, the American parish in Rome, Italy, The Haydnsaal at Esterhaze, Mirabell Gardens, and various other prestigious venues throughout Europe. The choir has sung for presidential inaugurations, television commercials, sung back-up for touring world-famous performers, and made commercial CD recordings alone and with professional arts organizations. Each Spring, the Concert Choir performs a major work in cooperation with The Louisville Chorus. These collaborations have included the Durufle, Mozart, and Brahms requiems, Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, and Serenade to Music, and will be performing Haydn’s Creation in April.
Nearly 80% of YPAS vocal graduates go on to pursue a career in the arts, and each year 90% of those attending college go on to major music departments across the country with full or near-full performance scholarships. The Youth Performing Arts School ensembles have consistently received distinguished ratings and can be found performing throughout the Louisville-metro area all year long

As a magnet school under DuPont Manual High School, YPAS has diverse student population from throughout Jefferson County exhibiting talent and interest in dance, drama, technical theatre, vocal music, instrumental music, and piano. Further classes are offered in musical theatre, music theory, and jazz improvisation. At the heart of the YPAS facility is an 886-seat formal proscenium theatre with excellent acoustics and state-of-the-art production equipment. In addition, a 200-seat experimental theatre provides a more intimate setting for chamber presentations, dramatic works, and non-traditional productions. Facilities include a suite of ensemble practice rooms, dance studios, a costume shop, a scene shop, drama studios and other enhancements exceeding those found in many college settings. A computer lab and a fine arts library round out the resource-rich environment available to students of this school. YPAS has enriched the cultural and educational environment of Louisville and the Commonwealth with graduates earning scholarships to universities and conservatories throughout the nation.

Haydn's Theresienmesse at Stephansdom, Vienna
We proudly present a special 2009 festival event: Haydn's Theresienmesse at Stephansdom in Vienna under the director of Gerald Wirth - conductor of the Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna Boy's Choir). Preceeded by clinics, workshops and special receptions, the festival choir will perform the masterwork with the renowned Domorchester on July 10, 2009. The venue seats over 2000 people and since ticket sales benefit the restoration of this amazing cathedral a full house is expected.

In 2009, Austria celebrates and commemorates composer Joseph Haydn who passed 200 years ago. A true highlight of the celebrations will be the choir festival and concert event at Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral). The magnificent cathedral has influenced Haydn and his work in many ways. In 1739, then 8-year-old Joseph joined the boy choir which he had to leave when his voice broke at age 17. The composer’s relationship with Austria’s most important cathedral intensified in the years to come. In 1760, Haydn even got married in Stephansdom.
The two-day festival includes various workshops with the festival conductor and a dress rehearsal in the cathedral with the Domorchester and well-known soloists prior to the performance benefitting the restoration of Stephansdom. There will be plenty of opportunity for cultural immersion through in-depth visits of Vienna and cultural exchanges with local musicians. Another highlight will be the welcome reception when all festival participants meet under the rooftop of St. Stephen’s Cathedral – a very special place usually closed to the public. The festival concludes with yet another musicians get together after the concert.
Individual performances for participating choirs can be arranged as part of your organization's individual performance tour. Pre- and post-festival European concert tour itineraries will be custom designed for your ensemble. "At the Carmina Burana performance in Maiori, there was a ton of energy in the air from the chorus and the audience-- it was one of the most exciting performances of my life. Carolina International Chorale concludes 2008 Italy Performance Tour with highlight concert in Frascati
The Carolina International Chorale directed by Dr. Sue Klausmeyer concludes its 2008 Italy Performance Tour with Incantato on July 2 with a highlight concert in Frascati.The choir from Chapel Hill, North Carolina will present Ray Roger's "Gospel Mass" with piano, bass and drums along with other gospels and spirituals. The performance starts at 8 pm at the Scuderie Aldobrandini.
CSULB Chamber Choir presents highlight concert at San Gaetano in Florence
The California State University Long Beach Chamber Choir directed by Dr. Jonathan Talberg concertizes on July 2, 2008 at 9 pm at the baroque jewel of San Gaetano in Florence. "Musica Celeste & Spirituale" is the title of the 2008 Italy Tour Program featuring works from European and American composers alike. The formal concert in one of Florence prime venues and nearby the Duomo concludes the series of performances for this outstanding university choir from California.
Two successfull performances for CIC in Rome
The Carolina International Chorale directed by Dr. Sue Klausmeyer sang twice on July 1 in Rome and both performances were a success for the singers and audiences alike. Especially the reception and turn-out for the ensembles formal concert at Sant' Agnese in Agone was outstanding - over one hundred people were waiting anxiously in front of the magnificent church at Piazza Navona for the gate to open. CIC presented its 2008 Italy Tour program titled "The Soulful Sounds of Spiritual and Gospel Music" to several hundred people and received lots of applause.

CIC presents "The Soulful Sounds of Spiritual & Gospel Music" in Sant' Agnese in Agone
The Carolina International Chorale presents its first individual formal concert aspart of the group's 2008 Performance Tour to Italy on July 1, 2008 at 9 pm at the beautiful church of Sant' Agnese in Agone on Piazza Navona in Rome. The concert is titled "The Soulful Sounds of Spiritual & Gospel Music".
At 6 pm, the ensemble from Chapel Hill, North Carolina under the direction of Dr. Sue Klausmeyer is the featured guest choir for High Mass at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
"I can't believe we just sang in the Sistine Chapel"
The singers from both the California State University Long Beach Chamber Choir and the Carolina International Chorale were amazed when they sang in the Sistine Chapel on June 30, 2008 as part of their Incantato Performance Tours to Italy. Both choirs had the opportunity to perform several works in this amazing venue right in front of Michelangelo's Last Judgement as part of their private visit to the Vatican Museums. While no recordings were allowed, the memories of this essential artistic experience in one of the world's most beautiful and exclusive venues will last a lifetime.
